Careers at DP3

We are a small, remote-first team doing managed IT and vCIO advisory for law firms in Chicago and New York. This page describes the work and what we stand for, so you can decide whether it sounds like somewhere you want to spend your time.

Introduce Yourself

How the work actually runs

Four things that are true of every role here, stated plainly because they are the things that decide whether a job suits someone.

Remote-first, genuinely.

Our team works from home. The Chicago and New York addresses on this site are mailing addresses, not staffed offices, and we say so on those pages. There is no desk you are expected to occupy to prove you are working.

But not remote-only.

We run regular on-site visits to client offices, and some team members hold permanent on-site assignments with a single client. Showing up in person is part of the job rather than an exception to it, so this is not a role you can do from anywhere.

The clients are law firms.

Law firms and professional services firms, in the Chicago and New York metros. The work is shaped by what those firms are obliged to protect and by deadlines that do not move, which is a different discipline from general small-business IT.

You will talk to decision-makers.

We communicate with managing partners and firm leadership, not only with office managers. Explaining a technical trade-off to someone who will act on it is a regular part of the work at every level here.

What we stand for, from your side of it

We publish a set of promises to clients called the DP3 Code. Part of it is about how clients treat us, which matters more to a prospective colleague than anything we could say about ourselves.

No hierarchy of who deserves respect.

Quoted from the DP3 Code, which every client reads: "At DP3, we don’t have a hierarchy of who deserves respect. The person answering your call matters exactly as much as anyone with their name on the door — ours or yours."

We ask clients to treat technicians well.

That page is not decoration. It asks clients, in writing and by name of behavior, not to aim their frustration at the person helping them. We publish it before an engagement starts so that the expectation is set by us rather than defended by you.

We own our mistakes out loud.

Another of the five promises: when we get something wrong we say so, fix it, and explain what we are changing. That applies internally too. A culture that admits faults to clients cannot run on blame inside.

Hours

Administration hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT.

Support is available for urgent client requests outside those hours. How that coverage is shared is part of the conversation about a specific role rather than something we will pretend is frictionless.

Introduce yourself

We would rather hear from someone good at the wrong moment than miss them because nothing was posted. Tell us what you have worked on, what you want to be doing, and whether Chicago or New York.

We read everything that arrives and we will tell you plainly if there is nothing open.

Attach a resume or paste a LinkedIn link, or neither. Whatever is easiest. If the form will not work for you, call (312) 896-2450.

Can you get to client offices in person?
